What the 2026 syllabus emphasises
- Language is the single largest block. 30 questions (90 marks) come from Hindi, Sanskrit and English grammar and unseen passages. Passages are a scoring area because the answer is in the text.
- Current affairs are prominent. 25 questions cover international, national and Uttar Pradesh events, awards, sports, books and culture. Revise roughly the 12 months before the exam, with a separate list of UP-specific events.
- Pedagogy is spread over four subjects. Teaching skills, child psychology, information technology and life skills together carry 28 questions (84 marks), all at the D.El.Ed level. Candidates who prepared for UPTET or CTET already know much of this material.
- New areas compared with 2019: information technology in teaching (computers, the internet, OER, teaching apps) and life skills, management and attitude (professional ethics, the teacher’s roles, constitutional values, reward and punishment).
- Reasoning is small at 5 questions, but the topic list is long. Focus on series, coding-decoding, analogy, direction sense and blood-relation-style puzzles, which are quick to solve.
See how these subjects appeared in earlier exams in the 2018 and 2019 question papers, and the marking rules in the exam pattern page.
