BPSC Previous Year Question Papers (Prelims and Mains)
What is official
- BPSC publishes answer keys for the Prelims on its website: a provisional key, then a final key after objections.
- BPSC’s website does not host the question papers themselves; copies in circulation come from candidates and coaching platforms.
- The Prelims has several booklet sets (for example E, F, G and H in the 71st CCE); always match the set code.
Previous year questions (PYQs) are the most reliable guide to what BPSC asks. This page links the official answer keys available on bpsc.bihar.gov.in and explains how to use past papers. Subject-wise question counts are on the BPSC Prelims strategy page.

Questions deleted in the 71st final answer key
BPSC deleted five questions in the final key, with reasons given in the key. The deleted items related to a national junior athletics championship said not to have been held in 2025, the Lok Sabha procedure for a censure motion, the name of the journal ‘Young India’, a statement about the ‘Provisional’ Government, and pyrite production in Bihar.
Question papers
Question papers of recent BPSC Prelims are reproduced by several coaching platforms from candidates’ booklets. These are unofficial copies; check them against the official answer key and set code before relying on them. GSMitra does not host copies of third-party papers.

Mains previous year questions
BPSC Mains papers are not posted on the Commission’s website. The Mains syllabus itself names many of the topics that recur, such as the Santhal Uprising, 1857 in Bihar, the Birsa movement, Champaran and Quit India, Mauryan and Pala art and Patna Qalam. The 69th CCE topper said in an interview on the BPSC Wallah YouTube channel that 15 to 20 polity themes repeat regularly in the Mains.
How to use PYQs
- Solve each Prelims paper under exam conditions: 2 hours, five options, option E for skipped questions, 1/3 negative marking.
- Classify every question by subject and topic; the pattern shows where to spend time.
- Read the deleted and changed answers in the final key: they show how BPSC treats ambiguous statements.
- For the Mains, write answers to past questions within the word limit and compare with the syllabus wording.
- Add UPSC questions on common themes; the 69th topper found UPSC Prelims questions of the last five to six years useful.
