Selection process: how shortlisting works

Selection is through a written exam only; interviews for these posts were abolished under the 2017 rules. The route has two steps.

  1. Shortlisting on PET 2025: UPSSSC calls 15 times the number of posts in each category, by PET 2025 normalised score (to two decimal places), including all candidates tied at the cut-off.
  2. Written Mains exam: merit for the final list is decided by the Mains score, followed by document verification, when candidates also give their post preferences.

Candidates with a zero or negative absolute or normalised score in PET 2025 are not shortlisted. If the Mains is held in more than one shift, scores are normalised under UPSSSC’s notice of 22 May 2019.
