What happens after the Mains result

1. DAF-II (Detailed Application Form-II)

Qualified candidates must fill and submit DAF-II online on the UPSC portal within the window announced with the result. Recent windows were short: 9–15 December 2023 and 13–27 November 2025. DAF-II includes service and cadre preferences and the upload of certificates (education, category, EWS, PwBD and others). Candidature is cancelled if DAF-II is not submitted on time.

2. Interview schedule and e-summon letters

UPSC publishes the Personality Test schedule (roll-number-wise) and issues e-summon letters on its website. In the 2025 cycle, interviews were held in two phases from 8 December 2025 to 27 February 2026.

3. Personality Test

The interview, worth 275 marks, is held at Dholpur House, UPSC, New Delhi. Candidates must carry the e-summon letter and original documents listed in it.

4. Final result

The final merit list is based on Mains (1,750) + Personality Test (275) = 2,025 marks. Prelims marks are not counted.
